Question 1

Are my images uploaded anywhere?

Accepted Answer

No. The neural network is downloaded once and then executes entirely inside your browser. Your images never touch a server.

Question 2

Do I need to install anything?

Accepted Answer

No. It runs on WebAssembly through TensorFlow.js in your browser. There is no app to install and no account to create.

Question 3

What is the difference between Anime/Manga and Photo/Realistic mode?

Accepted Answer

Anime/Manga uses a tighter sharpening kernel with a lower noise threshold and heavier smoothing of flat areas, so ink lines stay crisp and panel gutters stay clean. Photo/Realistic uses a wider, gentler kernel so skin, foliage and fine texture gain definition without amplifying grain.

Question 4

Will a 4x upscale crash my browser on a large image?

Accepted Answer

No. Inference is processed in 128px tiles with overlap, and post-processing walks the image tile by tile using a single reused buffer. Large encoded results are staged in the Origin Private File System rather than held in RAM. Extremely large inputs are gently reduced first, and the tool tells you when that happens.

Question 5

Why does the first upscale take so long?

Accepted Answer

The neural weights are fetched the first time you use the tool and are then cached by your browser. After that, upscaling runs on your own GPU or CPU, so speed depends entirely on your device. 4x takes roughly four times as long as 2x.

Question 6

Should I choose PNG or WebP?

Accepted Answer

Use PNG for line art, screenshots and anything you plan to edit further, since it is lossless. Use WebP when you want a much smaller file for sharing photos, keeping in mind it is lossy.
